Zinc: Industrial or Not?

At the beginning of 2017, The Rain Events started a new series on the industrial pollutants found in Table 2 of the IGP. Well, the February edition is all about zinc – a particularly confusing and frustrating pollutant, seeing how it's found in everything from galvanized metal buildings to sunblock, and all points in between. Some people have expressed frustration and uncertainty about zinc, since in many cases, the biggest sources of zinc usually have little to do with the facility's industrial activities. We went up to the State Water Board to get some answers about when zinc is an industrial point source, and when it's not.
